Jogja Study Tour Package

Educational tours for students

Every year, thousands of student groups from West Java, East Java, even Kalimantan come to Jogja for study tours. There is a reason it is always the top choice: everything in the history and culture textbooks can be seen and touched in person here. Borobudur is not just a picture in a social studies book — students can climb it, touch the reliefs, and listen to a guide tell the story of Prince Siddhartha.

For groups of 20-40 students, we usually prepare Hiace vans (2-3 units for one grade) or a 40+ seat tourist bus if one bus is enough. Our drivers know the study tour routes by heart — from the Kraton which opens at 8:30 AM to Taman Pintar which requires group slot bookings. Something teacher chaperones often overlook: Tourism Villages for batik-making and gamelan workshops. Students are usually more enthusiastic here than at museums, because they get to create things hands-on, not just observe.

One important note: study tour season is March-May and September-November. If your school plans to travel during these periods, book the bus at least 2-3 weeks in advance because the fleet sells out fast. We can help put together a curriculum-aligned itinerary proposal — just send us the theme and number of students via WhatsApp.

Recommended Itinerary

1

Day 1: History & Culture

Arrive in Jogja in the morning, head straight to the Kraton (opens 8:30 AM, allow 1-1.5 hours with a local guide — IDR 50k for the group). Walk to Sonobudoyo Museum (10 minutes, wayang puppet and keris dagger collections). Continue to nearby Taman Sari. Lunch together at a gudeg warung near Malioboro — group portions can be ordered at IDR 20k/student. Afternoon free time on Malioboro, regroup at 6 PM.

Day 2: Temple Visit

Depart at 6:30 AM for Borobudur — student groups get the domestic ticket price of IDR 50k. Explore for 2-3 hours with a guide (can be arranged, IDR 100-150k per guide for 15-20 students). Stop at Mendut Temple before lunch. Afternoon to Prambanan (1 hour from Borobudur), explore until late afternoon. If energy permits, Ratu Boko is 10 minutes from Prambanan for sunset — but this is optional, kids are usually tired by then.

Day 3: Education & Workshop

Morning at Taman Pintar — book a group slot by phone a week in advance. Spend 2-3 hours here with the planetarium and interactive science labs. At 11 AM, head to a Tourism Village (Tembi or Kasongan) for a batik workshop — students make their own batik to take home, IDR 35-50k/student. Lunch, then souvenir shopping before departing. The original Bakpia Pathok 25 on Jl. KS Tubun is always a teacher favorite.

Important Tips

Booking during study tour season (March-May, September-November) should be 2-3 weeks in advance. We have had to turn away groups that booked just 3 days before departure because all buses were taken.

Bring an official school letter with letterhead — Borobudur and Prambanan offer group discounts for student groups, but you need to show the letter.

Prepare motion sickness medicine (Antimo) before heading to Borobudur — the road is winding especially from the Semarang direction. There are always 2-3 students who get carsick in every group.
