Ketep Pass is best visited in the morning between 8-10 AM when the air is still clear. It is often foggy by midday with Merapi hidden behind clouds. Entrance ticket IDR 15,000.
Punthuk Setumbu for sunrise requires departing from Jogja at 3:30-4 AM. A 15-minute uphill walk. The view of Borobudur's silhouette emerging from morning mist is one of the best sights in Java.
