Renting With a Driver — Simple Process
If you choose a car rental with driver + fuel, the requirements are straightforward. You just need three things: a photo of your ID or passport (a phone photo is fine), an active WhatsApp number so you can coordinate directly with the driver, and a 30% deposit of the total rental cost. No driving license needed, no large deposit, no collateral. Just book, transfer the deposit, and the driver comes to your pickup location — whether that is your hotel, the airport, or the train station.
Self-Drive Rental — More Preparation Needed
For self-drive rental, requirements are stricter because the vehicle becomes fully your responsibility. You need to bring your original ID card (KTP), which will be held during the rental period, plus a valid SIM A driving license — this is not just a formality. Police in Jogja rarely set up checkpoints in the city center, but on the roads leading to the south coast beaches (especially the Parangtritis and Wonosari routes) there are frequent spot checks.
Deposits vary by vehicle: starting at IDR 500,000 for a city car like a Calya, up to IDR 5,000,000 for an Innova or Fortuner. Minimum renter age is 21. Some premium vehicles require Jogja residency — but this can be arranged, contact us first to discuss.
Terms You Should Know
Minimum rental duration is 12 hours for chauffeur packages, or 24 hours for self-drive. Exceeding the duration incurs an hourly overtime charge, so make sure your travel plans are clear from the start. Chauffeur rentals include fuel for the Jogja area during those 12 hours. Self-drive means fuel is on you — the car is handed over with a full tank and should be returned full.
The operating area covers all of Jogja and surroundings. Out-of-city trips (Borobudur, Dieng, Solo, Semarang) can be arranged with extra charges communicated upfront. What is not allowed: racing, transporting illegal goods, or sub-leasing the vehicle to someone else.
Speed Up the Process
Send photos of your ID and license via WhatsApp before your rental day — this can cut the handover time to just 10-15 minutes. Pay the deposit as soon as possible after confirming, especially during high season: Christmas, New Year, and Eid can see the fleet fully booked 2-3 weeks in advance.
