If you're the kind of traveler who likes to stop at a roadside warung that looks delicious, detour through rice paddies for the view, or spontaneously head to Parangtritis beach for sunset — self-drive is the way to go. No waiting for a driver, no explaining your plans. Just take the keys and go.

Prices start at IDR 250,000/day for a Calya or Avanza. That's the car alone — fuel is separate. A full day around Jogja — Malioboro, Prambanan, then gudeg dinner in Wijilan — typically runs about IDR 100-150k in fuel. So your real total cost for self-drive is roughly IDR 350-400k per day including gas.

Requirements are straightforward: a valid national ID (KTP — we'll copy it on the spot), a valid Indonesian driver's license (SIM A), and a security deposit. Deposits range from IDR 500,000 for a city car to IDR 2,000,000 for an Innova or premium vehicle. The deposit is 100% refundable when the car comes back in good shape. Minimum age is 21, and you don't need to be a Jogja resident — many of our customers come from Jakarta, Surabaya, or other cities.

The car is handed over with a full tank, and you're expected to return it full as well. You can drive anywhere in Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java. Outside Java? Sorry, that's not permitted — it's a safety policy we're firm about.
