Rent Mitsubishi Xpander in Jogja
Modern MPV with stylish design and fuel efficiency
For those who find the Avanza too "ordinary" but do not quite need the pricier Innova, the Xpander hits the sweet spot right in between. It looks noticeably more modern and sporty — people often say the Xpander looks more expensive than it actually is. The cabin is slightly wider than an Avanza, so three passengers in the second row do not have to squeeze together.
What makes the Xpander particularly well-suited to Jogja roads is its 205 mm ground clearance — higher than most MPVs. You really notice it when crossing potholed roads on the way to Indrayanti Beach or navigating the endless speed bumps in the cultural village areas. Highway stability is also noticeably better than an Avanza, especially when hit by crosswinds on the Trans Java toll road.
The tradeoff? The Xpander's 1.5L gasoline engine lacks the climbing power of the Innova's diesel. The uphill road to Kaliurang feels sluggish when fully loaded with passengers and luggage. Fuel economy is about 11-12 km per liter in the city — decent but not quite as efficient as an Avanza. For standard sightseeing around Jogja and nearby attractions, the Xpander is a very solid and stylish choice.
