Baron Beach
Fisherman Beach with Fresh Grilled Fish
Hungry after the 1.5-hour drive from Jogja? Baron Beach has the answer: rows of grilled fish stalls serving seafood straight from fishing boats. Pick your fish, choose the seasoning (grilled, fried, or sweet and sour), wait 20 minutes, and eat at a table facing the ocean. Prices start at IDR 25,000-50,000 per portion — far cheaper than city seafood restaurants.
After eating, climb to the lighthouse on the cliff — from here you can see the entire Gunungkidul coastline stretching east. Baron was the first beach discovered in the Gunungkidul beach strip, and remains a favorite for seafood lunch.

Travel Tips
Climb the lighthouse (free) for a panorama of the entire Gunungkidul coastline from above — bring a camera, the view is extraordinary
Have lunch here, not at Indrayanti — Baron's seafood is cheaper and fresher because it comes straight from fishing boats moored on the beach
