Tumpeng Menoreh
Unique Tumpeng-Shaped Hill in Kulon Progo
Jogja's nature sometimes has a sense of humor: there is a hill shaped exactly like tumpeng — the cone-shaped rice served at Javanese celebrations. Its name is fitting: Tumpeng Menoreh. And from the peak of this natural "tumpeng," you get a 360-degree panorama sweeping from Borobudur, Merapi, Merbabu, all the way to the South Sea.
The trek from parking to the summit is only 15-20 minutes — easy. Tickets IDR 5,000. But it is 45 km from Jogja in the Kulon Progo hills, so this is a destination for those willing to make the extra effort for an unmatched view.

How to Get There
From Jogja take Wates Road west, then turn north toward the Menoreh hills. Total 45 km, about 1.5 hours. The last 10 km is winding uphill — asphalt is decent but narrow, larger vehicles need care on bends. Adhyasatya drivers know this route well and where the flat parking spots are.
Travel Tips
The trek from parking to the summit is only 15-20 minutes, but some sections are steep — wear closed shoes, not flip-flops
Bring your own water — no stalls at the summit. The 360-degree view is best on clear mornings: Borobudur, Merapi, Merbabu, and the South Sea all at once
