Mudal River
Natural Swimming with Cool & Clear Water
After sweating through Kalibiru or walking tea gardens, plunging into Mudal River's cool water feels like a reward. Crystal clear mountain water — you can see stones at the bottom — flows gently forming natural pools perfect for swimming.
This is not a man-made waterpark. It is a genuine natural river well-managed by locals: there are changing areas, toilets, and simple food stalls. Tickets IDR 10,000. Bring a towel and change of clothes. A perfect outdoor family picnic spot.

How to Get There
From Jogja take Wates Road west, turn north toward Girimulyo — total 35 km, about 1.5 hours. The road climbs into the hills but asphalt is smooth. Mudal River is in the same direction as Kalibiru and Nglinggo Tea Garden, so we usually combine them into one full-day trip. Parking near the entrance, IDR 5,000 per car.
Travel Tips
Bring a change of clothes and towel — changing areas are available but basic. The river water is cold year-round, incredibly refreshing after walking around Kalibiru
Weekdays are nearly empty — perfect for a private family picnic. Weekends can get busy, especially midday. Arrive before 10 AM for a peaceful vibe
