If you want a sunrise photo that makes your Instagram friends jealous, Mangunan Fruit Garden at 5 AM is the answer. From the hilltop viewing platform, you watch the sun rise behind Mount Merapi and Merbabu, while below you a sea of white clouds fills the valley. Every time we bring guests here, the reaction is the same: silence, then "oh my god."
Tickets are only IDR 5,000 — but you pay with a 4 AM wake-up from Jogja to arrive before 05:30. The viewing platform is limited, and latecomers only get the back row. After sunrise (around 7 AM), you can explore the fruit gardens — durian season January-February, rambutan November-December.

How to Get There
Only 5 minutes from Mangunan Pine Forest — so usually visited together. From Jogja, head south via Imogiri, 22 km, 45 minutes. For sunrise, depart at 04:00 from Jogja to arrive by 05:00. The road is dark and uphill — our drivers are used to it.

Leave Jogja at 04:00, arrive by 05:00, wait for sunrise while having coffee at the stall near the viewing platform (IDR 5,000/cup). Do not arrive at 05:30 — too late for front spots
Morning temperature 15-18°C with strong wind — bring a thick jacket, not just a thin hoodie. Your hands can go numb from holding your phone too long
